# Fedora 42

Validated Fedora 42 Cloud Base template for CloudStack KVM, rebuilt on 2026-08-12. Fedora 42 is end-of-life; keep this image only for explicit legacy requirements and recommend Fedora 43 or 44 for new deployments.

## CloudStack registration

Register the template privately with these settings:

- Hypervisor: KVM
- Format: QCOW2
- OS type: Fedora Linux (64-bit)
- HVM: Yes
- Password enabled: Yes
- SSH key enabled: Yes
- Public: No
- Featured: No
- Template details: `guest.cpu.mode=host-model` only

Do not copy transient CloudStack runtime details such as `SSH.PublicKey`, `SSH.KeyPairNames`, `rootdisksize`, or `Message.ReservedCapacityFreed.Flag`.

## Verification

Before registration:

```bash
sha256sum fedora-42.qcow2
qemu-img info --output=json fedora-42.qcow2
qemu-img check fedora-42.qcow2
```

Fresh Base, Pro, and Ultra instances passed root password provisioning, SSH-key isolation, hostname and public networking, 30/50/80 GiB root growth, fixed 1 GiB swap, fresh SSH host keys, SELinux enforcing, zero failed systemd units, and QEMU Guest Agent checks. Base also passed a reboot test. A separate password-only Base smoke test from the canonical mirror URL and final UUID passed.
